He is best known for his silent films during the 1920s, in which he performed physical comedy and inventive stunts. His parents were Vaudevillian comedians with a popular variety act. They traveled with a medicine show that included family friend and illusionist Harry Houdini. Keaton himself verified the origin of his nickname "Buster" was given to him by Houdini. Keaton's film career was launched while in New York looking for work with a chance run-in with Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle. He had a ground-breaking career with many ups and downs. He completed nearly 150 films in the span of nearly 50 years. These are films from the beginning of his careers.
