People who are ahead of their times are usually pretty weird, but this guy might take the cake. In an upcoming episode of The Abolitionists, weโ€™ll be exploring the life and ideas of a man who has the distinction to be not only the first revolutionary abolitionist in American history, but also the first animal rights activist, an early advocate for womenโ€™s rights, a proletarian critic of bourgeoisie and aristocracy alike, and a cosmopolitan friend of all colors and nations โ€“ the extraordinary Quaker dwarf vegan abolitionist hermit of early 18th century Pennsylvania, Benjamin Lay.

I'm excited to announce the first installment to the Atun-Shei indie film collective, the wildly fun and genuinely suspenseful crime short MAGPIE, directed by British filmmakers Frankie Currie and Terri Silver: atunsheifilms.vhx.tv/products/magpie

This one is a real treat. It's shot in (seemingly) one continuous take, a choice which can often come across as gimmicky and overdirected, but here adds a sense of realism and immediacy as we follow Riley, a petty crook, skittering through the streets of Sheffield vainly attempting to keep his life from falling apart. The level of coordination these oners show as a low budget production filming in public is truly impressive. Camera, sound, and actors drift in and out of buildings and vehicles with seamless precision. There are cuts, but they're hidden pretty well โ€“ see if you can spot them!

It's got a resounding recommendation from me. You can buy it for 99 cents, but there's also a "pay what you want" option if you'd like to go the extra mile to support independent artists. As always on my site, the filmmakers get 100% of the profits. Enjoy!

Hey all, I've just added two new tiers to my Patreon page. Patrons get perks like text and photo updates, exclusive access to the Atun-Shei Discord server, early access to every video, and bonus secret videos and vlogs. It's a fun community of friendly and wonderfully dorky people, and it keeps the lights on in my creepy little studio full of problematic costumes and skeleton puppets. AN ATUN-SHEI FILMS STREAMING SERVICE FOR UNDERAPPRECIATED INDIE MOVIES??? Well, yeah, it's been something I've been thinking of doing. As many of y'all know, I've got my movie The Sudbury Devil up for sale on my website as well as a couple of short films I made in my 20s. And they seem kind of lonely, so I'd like to put out an open call to any and all filmmakers out there.

Has anybody made any quality indie movies that the Atun-Shei audience might be into? Period pieces, comedies, horror flicks, documentaries? Are you looking for help to get your film a wider viewership? Whether they are shorts or features, send them to us at atunsheifilms @ gmail.com, we'll take a look at them, and if we like them we'll put them up for sale at atunsheifilms.vhx.tv/.

If we decide to put your film on the Atun-Shei Films website, then we will give you 100% of your film's profits (after the software's hosting fee), paid annually, and when it drops I'll advertise it with a post on the YouTube community tab, my Twitter, my Facebook, and my Instagram.

Hope to hear from you! :)

Hey all, I'm working on a video about Native American ecological beliefs and practices, focusing mostly on Eastern Woodland cultures. To that end I've been recording interviews with indigenous historians to cut in with my analysis. But I would like to record more, with a broad variety of perspectives. If you are a Native educator or activist, an environmental activist (of any background) with a strong grounding in Native issues, or a climate scientist, I would love to hear from you. Reach out at atunsheifilms@gmail.com. Thanks!

Hey folks, props from the Checkmate Lincolnites finale are now on sale on my Etsy store, including the flags that have hung in the background in every episode, the chess set Billy Yank gave to Johnny Reb, and a bunch of Confederate skeleton puppets! www.etsy.com/shop/AtunSheiFilms

If you're curious to hear behind the scenes info about the budget and financial performance of the finale (and The Sudbury Devil too) check out the video I just posted about filmmaking, YouTube, and taking an unconventional career path in the age of New Media https://youtu.be/-D7kbzh7kfI?si=rq4ZS...

This is neither here nor there, but if by any chance you need something to project on the wall of the club on Goth Night, or put on in the background at your next Halloween party, I gotchu covered. It's just a little something I made for fun: drive.google.com/file/d/13JlK_dzGD08Vrgj8Hjiv3ZCtNโ€ฆ

Edit: Rumble was too woke for my genius and took down the video

I'm excited to announce that THE SUDBURY DEVIL is now available to stream on Tubi, Prime Video, and Apple TV! The best way to support the filmmakers is still to buy it directly through our website at atunsheifilms.vhx.tv/, where you can also get exclusive access to over six hours of special features.

My recent Terence McKenna video was demonetized (which is whatever โ€“ I kinda figured it would be, due to the subject matter, and it's a moot point anyway because I scored it with Glass's "Akhnaten"). As a result, the algorithm hasn't been recommending it to as many people, which is too bad because I'm very proud of it and think it's one of the most personal videos I've ever made. Check it out! ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ„ ๐Ÿš€
