Cheryl Johnson Artist
My paintings are about a "moment's pleasure."
My paintings are both real and emotional places and faces. Subjects range from abstract themes inspired equally by the landscapes to intimate figurative studies and poignant faces.– What is exciting to me is that people who love my work bring something of themselves to the creative process, because it is how they engage with their own imagination. I’m interested in “a moment's pleasure. My practice of art making is a deeply personal game of choices and a constant renegotiation between rules of inclusion and omission, acceptance and refusal, inviting the viewer into my world and allowing them to make it their own. My desire as an artist is to create powerful images that invite the viewer to experience something new… even years after the first encounter.”
"Studio Visits" takes the viewer behind the scenes.
