Bod first appeared on our TV screens 40 years ago. The 13 episodes, shown on the BBC from 1975 - 1980, were based on Michael and Joanne Cole's four original Bod books (1965) and nine new Bod adventures.
'Bod' featured quirky stories and characters (Bod, Aunt Flo, P.C. Copper, Frank the Postman and Farmer Barleymow), silly walks, laconic, almost wistful, narration, jaunty opening and closing sequences and irresistible music.
Music by Derek Griffith’s, animation by Alan Rogers and Denise Shakell, and voice by John Le Mesurier, of ‘Dad’s Army’ fame.
The five-minute animated films were incorporated into a 'Watch with Mother' Bod series, which also featured guessing games, and the flamboyant Alberto the Frog and his Amazing Animal Band, presented by Maggie Henderson.
