It just arrived! Here is a quick review on the backcountry.tnu8.net/jrN2Q5 Marmot Tungsten UL 1 Person Tent. It is still on sale for the $181 that I paid for it. Which is crazy since everything in the bag totals 2.5 lbs and is free standing!
-Setup is quick and easy since it is free standing.
-When Sitting up I have more head room than I expected, making it easier to change cloths inside.
-The coffin design gives plenty of room on the upper end of the tent. I could easily keep all my camera gear inside the tent along with cloths, bear spray and boom boom.
-I am 6ft 2in and I have just enough space to layout straight, its comfortable but anyone taller will start to feel cramped.
-Good size vestibule that will easily fit 65L-105L pack and your shoes and keep your gear dry.
Final thoughts, I think it will fit the bill for what I have been looking for. A high-value sub 3lbs free standing backpacking tent. It looks like they might be discontinuing or updating the design so this price probably won't last. There is a 3 person version as well that is about $270 and weighs 4.5lbs. I finally found one! backcountry.tnu8.net/jrN2Q5 guys, I have been looking for a sub 3lbs 1 person backpacking tent that is free standing and under $250 for about a year with no luck. Well I saw backcountry was having a sale and that this Marmot Tungsten UL Tent Series was under $200 when you put it in your cart! They have a 1 & 2 person currently in stock.
