Yesterday an Endurance Road Cyclist sent me this message. To put it in context, I looked up his track record and he’s won 🥇 first place in several races, that span days of non-stop cycling lasting 1,000s of KM across entire countries! (And I’m not talking small countries like Belgium 🇧🇪 or Brunei. 🇧🇳 😅)
He’s basically done more cycling than most of us here. This is his take on carbon rim brakes. 🤷🏻♂️😉

My Polar computer has almost shuffled off it’s mortal coil. The battery only holds enough for 2 rides or 1 long one. 🪫 The screen is also going bad.
What should I buy next? What do you want me to review?

The average “Road Disc Brake” fanboy comment I’m getting goes something like this: 😂
“When I’m doing my daily ride down
Mont Ventoux in the middle of winter with 5 meters of snow on the road at 200kph, I find rim brakes just can’t handle it! With disc brakes I can run 55mm tyres on my road race bike and I can come to a complete stop on ice in 2.5 inches. Rim bikes are useless, you can’t fit any tyre over 23mm and it wasn’t until the advent of road disc that anyone put a 28mm+ tyre on any bike. FACT!
Because of disc brakes my road bike is now simultaneously my MTB and gravel bike. Also GCN told me fatter tyres are faster, so any road bike that has tyres smaller than 35mm is rubbish and needs throwing in a landfill. Old bikes are Yuk! 🤮
You clearly have never even seen a bike let alone fixed one, when I had rim brakes I needed to replace the worn out wheels every 2 weeks and I spent 3.8 million dollars on pads a year! Your calculations for the cost of disc doesn’t match my personal experience so it must be wrong.
At the end of the day all the bike industry (whom I trust implicitly) and the sponsored Pros use disc so that’s all the evidence I need that it’s obviously the best for all of us. Everyone should just give up freedom of choice and buy disc brake bikes irrespective of their circumstances.
PS. You are a clown 🤡 Poo poo head and you just hate disc because you are old and poor and obviously stupid, I’m super smart because I’m following the current thing.”
