POLL TIME! I want to get a jump on Scholastic Brass Special Season 3! As a reminder, in 2022, we talked about student instruments, and in 2023, we talked about step-up instruments. What would we like to see in 2024?
To clarify, option C here is where I talk about instruments that might be of any âcaliber,â be it intermediate, professional, or otherwise. The main thing is they are instruments I personally endorse as being great picks for school, whether because they can be found for cheap or because of what they bring to the table. Itâs a little more specific than what Iâve done in past years, but I do have lots of ideas for that category already if youâre interested.

20,000. Twenty thousand. 2.0*10^4. Wow. Just wow.
Moreover, this means that all of my three platforms (YT/IG/TT) have at long last crossed the 20K line.
I donât know where to start. It seems to be a running theme on here that I work hard on the channel, get close to a milestone, get burnt out, start slacking, and then finally reach it when I least expect it. I suppose a pot never boils until you take your eyes off it.
First off, Iâm sorry for the slowness of new content this past month or two. Iâll come right out and say I had (and failed to deliver) big plans for the channel this year. If anything, I wanted to outdo my upload schedule. Yet thus far I am below par on uploads, and here we are now in the âendgameâ stage of the semester. I hope youâll bear with me for a few more weeks, and then, finally, itâll be full steam ahead on content, new and (at this point very) old. Just know that the idea and research folders are only growing larger by the day.
Let me reiterate, as I do every time we reach a milestone, that every one of you among the thousands means a great deal to me. To you it was one click of a buttonâto me itâs a signal that (a) there is hope yet for a growing music community, (b) my contribution to the community is worth the toil, and (c) perhaps most of all, what I bring to the table is appreciated for what it is. Words cannot describe what that knowledge has done for me over the years, especially with the success of endeavors like Trumpet Demystified.
Know that I want to deliver better, and no matter how long it takes, I will deliver better. To all of you, old hats and new, much love from Sam. If you, like me, are braving the end of a semester, performance reviews, or any other road blocks in this chaotic season, take care of yourself.

What a crazy few months it has beenâThank you for 19,000 subscribers!! I am so happy to say that #getsamto20K is well underway! The support on recent videos has blown me awayâwe finally broke out of â200 view jailâ on my long-form content, and especially looking at last Scholastic Brass Month and Trumpet Demystified, two projects I put a lot of sweat into, itâs amazing to start seeing four digits more often than three.
Itâs not easy work getting out of a situation where your average view count on new uploads is only 3-5% of your sub count, but thanks to all your help, weâre finally doing it. â¤ď¸ I apologize in advance if content slows down a bit during this semesterâitâs turning out to be a VERY challenging oneâbut thank you again and I hope to see you stick around.

It always happens when you least expect it. I didnât really pay attention this past week, and as it turns out, 15,000 snuck up on me a few days ago!
To the 5,000 of you who have joined the SPB ranks this year, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Iâve noticed a lot of new subscribers coming in from YT Shorts, which I think is great, because it means youâve taken the extra step to have my content recommended to you, rather than just happening upon it while scrolling through Shorts. Thank you so much for making that decision. I hope to continue to foster a new generation of musicians, enthusiasts, and brass nerds alike through my channel.
With that said, I want to thank not only our 5,000 new subscribers, but also our âold hatsâ who have continued to watch, share, and comment on the videos Iâve put out this year. Without you, my core viewers, I have nothing. Thank you, again, for all of your support.
And finally, thank you for bearing with me through this slight lull in content. It only means that whatâs coming up next is going to be even bigger and better than before. Weâre going to be blazing some new trails pretty soon here on the SPB channel. I hope youâll stay tuned.
Hereâs to 20K soon! đĽł

Had to do a double take when I saw this! Thank you all so much for tuning in, especially now with Scholastic Brass Month in full swing! Might it be time for #getsamto15k? ;)

Question for yâall: what is the most important aspect in order for you to have an enjoyable viewing experience here on YouTube? (Preferred genre of content notwithstanding.)
4 - 10
12,000! Between all of you old hats, all of you new hats, and everyone in between, I am so thankful for your support. Subscriber growth slowed off substantially after the success of #getsamto10k last December, but that makes me appreciate our 2,000 new subscribers all the more!
Maybe it's time for #getsamto15k...? ;)

Hey all! In twelve hours, you'll be seeing what seems to be two of the same video. I will be posting an identical cover song as a YT Short and a standard horizontal video, side by side. I want to see how each performs, especially with the new changes to YT Shorts that have rolled out recently. Just want to clear up any confusion; don't feel any obligation to watch both as they are the same!
Thanks y'all! See you on the flipped side.
