What's the current state of the instructional design industry?
The field has been changing fast: new people transition in every day, AI is shaking things up, and hiring managers are more careful about who they decide to hire.
So, to help make sense of all the changes, my team and I prepared our most in-depth industry survey to date.
It includes questions about salary, artificial intelligence, hiring decisions, and so much more.
Also, to make sure that we're hearing from as many people as possible, we've included questions for:
-IDs working in the field
-People transitioning into the field, and
-ID hiring managers
If you fall into any of these categories, then please take some time to complete the survey. We'll publish the results for free on my website once the survey closes.
I'd also really appreciate it if you shared the survey with your colleagues so that we can get as much data as possible.
You can complete the survey by visiting www.devlinpeck.com/survey.

Happy Wednesday, instructional designers & eLearning devs!
Do you have instructional design books sitting on your shelf, dusty and unread?
If so, youโre not alone. Sometimes we purchase the industry classics with good intentions, but we donโt get around to reading them.
Fortunately, the ID community is here to help. Weโre kicking off an instructional design book club this week!
If youโd like some extra accountability (and some deep discussion), then weโd love for you to join us.
We go live with the ID book club info session tomorrow (Thursday) at 10 AM PDT. This is where weโll discuss expectations, schedule, and more.
Spoiler alert: weโre starting with Cathy Mooreโs Map It. If you heard her in last weekโs Q&A and youโre excited to learn more, then this is your chance to do so!
You can join us in the community space at the appropriate time by visiting www.devlinpeck.community.
If you want to sync your calendar and ensure that you donโt miss the session, visit www.devlinpeck.com/cal.

Hi! I'm Devlin Peck, and it's my mission to help instructional designers learn new skills and land better opportunities.
I started as a freelancer in 2017, and, over the years, I've designed and developed eLearning for dozens of clients and millions of people worldwide. However, helping my friends and peers land high-paying instructional design opportunities with great work-life balance became much more rewarding. That's why I now work on my content and coaching business full-time.
If you'd like to land your first instructional design job or keep your skills sharp throughout your instructional design career, then we would love it if you subscribed to stay up to date and help support the channel.
Welcome to the community!
