I'm finally bringing my "THE MEANING IN THE MAKING" talk to the US this month!

DATES:
New York City: 26th and 27th August
San Francisco: 28th August
Oakland: 29th August

SPACES ARE LIMITED SO BOOK YOUR PLACES NOW: www.seantucker.photography/links

(I make no money from these talks personally, so the west coast talks are free of charge, but the east coast talks are being organised by a local book store who are taking a fee in exchange for a free book and venue hire costs.)

How do you maintain inspiration?
How do you deal with your need for attention so you aren't led by the crowd?
How do you discover your unique creative voice?
How do you deal with roadblocks like creative envy and perfectionism?
How do you build more meaning into the things you make?

In this one-hour talk, Sean Tucker unpacks his philosophy for the creative life and gives us ideas about how to stay mentally healthy and motivated as "makers of things." Sean is a photographer, filmmaker, and author, but this talk is aimed at all creative people, so whether you're a painter, designer, animator, musician, poet, dancer, actor, chef, or just someone who can't help but create, this talk is for you.

There will be opportunities for Q&A and book signings after the talks.

I hope to see you there.

A recent interview I gave on the Honestly Unbalanced Podcast: https://youtu.be/2zEKLGo_z2w?si=PbvQH...

The discussion includes: the creative potential of your subconscious mind, why we need to be bored more often, finding your creative voice, deciding what success is to you, connecting with your core audience, having the courage to share your work, the challenges of receiving feedback and the struggles tied with turning your creative outlet in to your only source of income.

PARABLE 3 OUT NOW!
"Keeping Faith"

This is the third in a series of publications featuring photography and writing around a theme. In this edition I feature images showing the beautiful interplay of light and shadow within some of the stunning churches I’ve visited on my travels.

I also share my own very personal story with the church: from looking for God at a young age to replace an absent father, to becoming ordained and working for the church for over a decade. I walk you through why my faith unravelled and ultimately why I was kicked out of the institution. I also share how I think about faith today and why I still love to go in, take a quiet moment and sit in the back pews of these evocative buildings and whisper out a prayer.

PARABLE vol.3 is printed on environmentally-friendly, uncoated paper giving a pleasing matt feel in the hand, and muted hues with lifted, charcoal blacks to the rendering of the images. This edition is 46 sides at a large A4 size with staple binding.

Or available as a digital download with a PDF and MP3 of magazine read by the author.

My grandad Dennis passed away this morning just a couple of weeks shy of his 97th birthday. He lived a full and long life, and will be deeply missed. I made a video with him a few years back where he shared photos and stories from his time in the Royal Navy. If you'd like to help me remember him today, head along and watch. He loved to tell stories and have people listen, so I know it would have made him very happy: https://youtu.be/FBCxcCEoC7Y

PARABLE vol.2: The Namibia Story is OUT NOW!
www.seantucker.photography/store

I'm so excited that I get to bring you this body of work. I've been sitting on it for a few years now but this new magazine format finally gives me the chance to share these images, and the story of how they were made.

This is the second in a series of publications featuring photography and writing around a theme. In this edition I share a body of work I made on a trip to Namibia including landscapes of the Namib desert, as well as portraits made with the Himba tribe.

I also speak about my experience growing up in Africa, how it shaped me, why Namibia was the location for a key moment in my growth, my approach to this portrait project in particular, and how to recover when everything just seems to be going wrong.

This publication is available as a printed magazine, or as a digital download (PDF and MP3 read by the author.)
