Our small but mighty channel just passed 1 million views! Itโs been so fun sharing software reviews through our lens.
We put a lot of time/love into researching, structuring, and editing each video to make learning about software as entertaining as possible. Weโre so grateful for all of you that have seen our vision for the channel and have subscribed, watched, or left us a comment ๐ We appreciate you!

TASK APP DRAMA?
Anyone remember Wunderlist? It had 16 MILLION users in its peak and was acquired by Microsoft in 2015 for over $100M and then 5 years later, in 2020, they shut it down. Here's the story...
People were MAD.
It wasn't just users that were upset, but even the founder of Wunderlist, Christian Reber was upset that Microsoft sunset his baby.
With Wunderlist no longer in the picture, people were forced to flee to other options, even MKBHD.
Even though โช@mkbhdโฌ uses TickTick, he directly acknowledges that he'd switch away in an instant if another app even just looked better ๐ตโ๐ซ
Then, out of nowhere, the angry Wunderlist founder rose from the ashes, announcing that they had been building in stealth the reincarnation of Wunderlist with $13M in venture backing: Superlist
Then Notion entered the mix, continuing to insist it can be used for "everything", now including task management!
And yet the founder acknowledged in a Forbes interview that:
"Notion = sugar coated broccoli"
(AKA: Tricking people into building their own task management system)
The problem with what the founder of Notion is saying though is that building a task management tool in Notion is really just procrastinating around work instead of actually doing the work you need to do.

A sneak peek into how we're using Flows & Gantt Charts in Motion! ๐
With the release of Flows, we're now using them to map out all of our repeatable processes and it has been a game changer for our team.
With the new Gantt view, we're able to see all of our projects in a timeline, allowing us to better plan out the larger projects, and even see what stages of the project are eating up most of the time (usually engineering and video editing, unsurprisingly haha).
For miscellaneous tasks, we actually don't create projects for them, but rather add them under the Workspace โ No Project Assigned (and then use custom fields to better organize/categorize those tasksโthink of custom fields as more focused tags, so instead of having the label "YouTube" you might have a custom field dropdown for "platform" and then have the options "YouTube", "TikTok", "Instagram", etc. to enforce more strict categorization than tags allow for).
Just wanted to give a quick update to those waiting for our course, so you can get some direction on how we're now using Motion with the changes (and recommend how you should too).
We are just waiting on a few more updates to Motion before we film the course (we just don't want it to be immediately outdated visually otherwise, script is written and we've been able to evolve our processes internally to leverage all of these new features). We're super excited to share it with you all, but just wanted to give an update in-case you were one of the people waitingโit's very much top of mind for us!

Brought out the heavy hitters for the next 2 videos! We had so many lighting struggles filming our last video so wanted to have some help this time around. Next up...creating a little studio space in our 2nd bedroom as I don't think this is sustainable to do each and every time ๐ Super excited for how these turned out though โ they are being edited now and will be released in July!
