What is your favorite skills to pull off in a match? I don't mean just skill moves, I mean any skill. So is it beating an opponent one on one, playing a clever through ball, making that clean, crisp, precise tackle.

Some other options could be striking a ball cleanly, take a perfect touch in a difficult situation, etc. What gives you the most satisfaction when you pull it off?

Want to take your game to the next level so you are doing this more in matches? Check out our training programs here: www.simplysoccer.academy/training-programs

Who is the best player 1v1 right now?
⠀
Here are some 1v1 habits that are going to make you better in these situations and beat your man more often than not.⠀
⠀
⚽ First, make sure you have some skill moves in your arsenal that you have mastered. Doesn't matter if this is just cuts and feints. If you don't have skill moves, it's going to be an uphill battle in this area from the start.⠀
⠀
⚔️Attack the opposition! One of my favorite players at Euro 2020 was Chiesa. One of the reasons is because almost every time he got the ball he would drive at the opposition and put them on the back foot. This puts you at a huge advantage in these situations.⠀
⠀
🤔 That being said, you need to know when to attack your opponent, take them on, do the move, etc, and when not to. Be intelligent with it! Sometimes you will need to pass it off, keep possession, etc⠀
⠀
🔗 Complete the sequence! What I mean is that beating someone one on one isn't the end. You now want to take advantage of the space, opportunity, or whatever else has opened up! If you beat a man and got room for the cross, pass, to escape pressure, shoot, etc. Beating a person one on one creates opportunities, but then you need to take advantage of that opportunity.⠀
⠀
🐉 Find your style! There are many different ways to beat a player one on one. Some players like to run directly at an opponent, some like to tease an opponent, others like to start slow then quickly burst. You'll learn your go to and what works for you the most the more you play. Is it good to have more than one style? Yes, but developing a go to that works can be very, very useful!

Doesn't it suck when you panic in certain situations in matches and make a mistake you would never make otherwise?⠀
⠀
Yes... Yes it does! So let's cover how to prevent this from happening 👍⠀
⠀
Before we dive into it, be sure to get my updated FREE ebook through the link in my BIO! Over 50 pages to help you take your game to the next level.⠀
⠀
First, identify which situations you are panicking in the most. You should probably have a good idea of what these are. For a lot of players when they have pressure on them, are in a goal scoring chance, have to play quick, etc, they tend to panic.⠀
⠀
Then heavily on these situations in training. Get used to them so you have the feedback that you can do well in this type of scenario.⠀
⠀
Next, be able to let go and bounce back from mistakes quickly. Anything that causes you to lose your center, to be imbalanced emotionally or mentally will make it more likely that you'll make a poor decision or panic at some point.⠀
⠀
Learn how you best let go of mistakes in the moment and do it! Analyze your mistakes after the match. Don't beat yourself up for them during the game.⠀
⠀
Lastly, awareness! Improve your awareness and soccer IQ. If you know what's around you, you have less reason to panic and can operate more confidently in the moment. Work on scanning and drills that improve your ability to expand your awareness as you are playing.

Who almost NEVER loses the ball?

Here are some ways you can stop losing the ball so much in football!

🦶 One of the fundamentals that causes you to lose the ball a lot if you are weak at it is first touch. With a good first touch, you are setting yourself up to keep the ball. A poor first touch makes it very difficult to do so.

🛡️ Use your body to protect the ball. If you get good at this, it'll be very hard for opponents to get the ball off you without fouling you.

😱 Don't panic! Getting nervous will cause you to lose the ball more than anything. If you keep your calm in pressure situations, you'll keep the ball more.

⚽ Make sure you aren't overcomplicating things. Many players will over dribble, take too long, play too quick, etc and end up losing the ball this way. Playing simple is the way to go most times

🔥 Make sure you are practicing the match situations you are losing the ball in the most. The more you practice these situations over and over again, the more confident and competent you'll become at keeping the ball during matches.

What's the best first touch you've ever taken?

Your 1st touch is one of the most essential skills in your game. If you take a poor first touch, or don't take it in an effective way, you will struggle in most matches. However, a good first touch can open so many doors.

1st, learn to take a great 1st touch with every part of your body. That means all parts of your feet, your thighs, chest, even head at certain points. Yes, you'll be using your feet most often, but you'll be surprised how often your chest and thighs will come in handy.

Next, learn to touch away from pressure. This is one of the most common ones you'll learn. Sometimes, you'll be closed down well and you need to focus on keeping the ball. Being able to touch the ball effectively away from your opponent and pass it off is the way to go here.

Learn how to take your touch so you can protect it! This is another common one and if you can master this, you'll be that player that no one can get the ball off! Take your touch so you are immediately protecting it.

Now, onto a more attacking 1st touch and that is directional control. This is where you can use a clever first touch or momentum to beat an opponent or create the space to do something in an attacking sense. An example of this would be if a defender is closing you down and you push it first time down the line quickly past him as he slows down. With a good first touch, you can beat a defender. Turning a defender from a pass is an example of this.

Finally, you need to develop the IQ to know when to do each of these! It's all good to know each technique and to be able to do it well, but then it comes down to picking the right one. For example, if you try and beat someone with a first touch when you should be protecting it, you'll end up losing the ball
