The other day I had an intimate conversation with a woman I met in Spain.
She told me a heartbreaking story about why she had to move to Barcelona from Colombia.
It was deep, honest, and profound.
And it was in Spanish.
But no, I wasnāt able to speak at that levelā¦.
We texted each other.
And I used Google Translate.
On the one hand, it was amazing to be able to connect with her like that, thanks to technology and AI.
But then, the next time I met her, we looked at each other and hugged.
But we couldnāt speak about anything deeper than the weather. š
That gap of how we show up behind the screen vs. real life is just getting bigger and bigger with the incredible changes we see in technology.
I have a feeling you know this gap Iām talking about.
Iāve been seeing it a lot lately: how easy it is to forget the importance of having a real conversation with another person to build confidence and fluency in English. To be in a supportive environment and nurture your brain and your soul.
So I decided to do a thing.
