Because of all the rain in the past few weeks, the Oker Dam in the Harz region overflowed on December 26, 2023. The spillway consists of 8 siphon-like tubes. Due to the weight of the falling water, the output capacity is increased significantly by exploiting the suction effect.

On April 29, 2023, the transport of the submarine U17 started in Kiel. The route initially led through the Kiel Canal (NOK) and later along the Rhine past Cologne Cathedral to the natural harbor of Speyer. From there, the road transport to the Speyer Museum of Technology is to take place on May 21st.
