We are so thrilled to announce the Tom Petty Estate has spent the better part of 2024 working closely with Academy Award-winning Director Cameron Crowe to restore âTom Petty: Heartbreakers Beach Partyâ â the long lost 1980s classic documentary and Croweâs historic directorial debut. This version is fully restored with a new intro from Cameron and 20 minutes of additional unreleased footage, featuring Tom and the band in a golden era of touring the âLong After Darkâ album.

Over four decades after its debut, we are thrilled to re-introduce Tom Petty & The Heartbreakersâ era-defining 80s classic âLong After Darkâ as a Deluxe Edition with 12 re-discovered tracks, including 7 previously unreleased gems Tom wished had been included on the original record.
We will also be opening the Petty Archives to share previously unseen and newly remastered film and audio from 1982 - 1983, beginning with a new video by award-winning director Alan Bibby for the French TV version of âStraight Into Darkness.â Watch the video now.

Announcing the âLong After Darkâ Deluxe Edition out October 18 on Geffen/UMe!
This expanded reissue features 12 unreleased songs, including 7 that were lost in the debate over the albumâs original direction. Notable highlights include Tomâs version of âNever Be Youââwhich was a #1 country hit for Rosanne Cash ââDonât Make Me Walk the Line,â and an up-tempo version of âWays To Be Wicked,â which was previously covered by Margo Price with Mike Campbell for âPetty Countryâ.
Many of the additional tracks are taken from 1982-83 French TV sessions, including acoustic gems, âTurning Pointâ and the The Everly Brothers influenced âKeeping Me Alive.â
The 2LP expanded limited edition will be pressed on 180-gram color vinyl, housed in a numbered foil jacket and include an exclusive lithograph.
