How to learn Latin?

Put simply, learning Latin is largely about immersing yourself in the language as much as possible. Listen to and read Latin every day at a level that is comfortable for you. Go through different types of stories but remember to re-read and re-listen.

Of course, studying history, literature, and grammar is also important.

Aim for a daily study routine that you can keep. If you find yourself translating and looking up many words in each paragraph, pick an easier text.

If you start today and do this daily for a year, you will be reading and understanding things you’d never thought before.

This Black Friday, our Latin learning app Legentibus invites you to deepen your Latin journey with a 50% discount on yearly subscriptions.

Seneca is today most known for his letters to Lucilius which have rekindled the interest in Stoicism in the age of the internet. The letters however are far from the only thing that has come down to us from Seneca. In this week's Patreon video (patreon.com/latinitium) I read and explain in Latin a passage from De consolatione. In it, Seneca describes the fortitude and equanimity of Aristides who suffers a great insult as he is being led to his death. Yet he does not react as one would expect...

As always in our weekly Patreon videos, I read the text and explain all the difficulties in Latin. There's now a huge archive of videos in Latin on Patreon (200+).
