Perfect highlights. Every nail tech wants to get them aligning the nail plate. But the final result highly depends on the material consistency. And what base coat consistency do you prefer?

🤔What is an ingrown nail?
An ingrown nail (onychocryptosis) is a nail condition that occurs when the nail edge grows into the lateral side of the periungual dermis.

In other words, the nail edge grows into the skin, which causes irritation, redness, swelling, and pain.

It mostly happens on the toenail (rarely on other fingers) from one side, but sometimes it may be on both sides.

❗This nail disease is pretty serious, so at the first sign of it, one needs to take action, otherwise, the nail condition may get worse, there may be swelling, pus in the ingrown area, and the swollen area may bleed. In this case, the overall picture looks pretty gross: the finger is bluish red with pus, it gets bigger and causes discomfort when one walks.

‼️Causes of nail ingrowth:

1️⃣It's mostly caused by a poor-quality pedicure, when you or a nail tech get too deep cutting the nail corners.
❗Note: we need to cut the nails directly, slightly rounding the corners. The correct shapes for the toenails are: SQUARE or SOFT SQUATE.

2️⃣Another cause is wearing tight (sharp nose), uncomfortable, or poor-quality shoes. In this case, the toenail gets pressed into the nail fold.

3️⃣Finger deformation (acquired or innate: clubfoot, flatfood), fungus, traumas can become on of the key factors as well. It may also be a result of the incorrect nail growing pattern, when the nail plate gets thicker and curls. Bad circulation, inflammatory diseases may also worsen this condition.

A correct form setup in nail sculpting is 80% of success. It directly affects how sculpted nails will last.👆

Paper forms are great cause they work for various nail types: narrow, and wide ones. We just need to cut them out correctly! Check out the slideshow to learn how to do it! Flip through ➡️➡️➡️

DRILL THROUGHS WITH NO DRILLING ?🤔

Did you know that bumps and cuts on the nails may be caused not only by an e-file?

Even those who does a classic manicure can face them.
And the reason why they appear is such an instrument as a PUSHER!😱

If the nail plate is too soft in the lunula then you need to be really careful!☝🏼
If you press the pusher too hard to the nail surface you may ruin onychoblasts - soft nail cells.

❗️ That's why before doing a manicure the first step you should make is - CHECKING the hands, nails, cuticle and skin.

🔺Press on the lunula.
🔺Check how hard or soft it is and the depth of a subcuticular pocket.
🔺Check the skin condition.

🔧If the cuticle is rough and hardly gets lifted off the nail plate then the best helper to the pusher will be an ORANGE STICK. It carefully removes spreading and sensitive cuticle and you won't face any bumps.

❗️ Make sure there's a correct angle between the pusher and the nail plate. it shouldn't "dig" it.
🔺The best angle is 20-30°. With slow, pushing moves.

Nail technicians used to sculpt only SALON nails with arches making 30-35% of a circle. Such nails look natural and are comfortable to wear. But they often look flat on wider nail plates.
And then we got ARCHED sculpting with 40-50% arches.
But many techs don’t know how to cut out and set up forms for this sculpting technique. And there are techs who like flat nails better.
What’s your favorite sculpting type: salon or ached?

I think you've already heard and seen a lot on how polishing and filing the lateral folds is better than cutting them, I completely agree with it and today I'll share with you my tips on processing the lateral folds.

I get to them right after processing the cuticle and the side sinuses, one finger at a time since it helps to save up some time.⏳

When you start processing the lateral folds you need to continue making long moves with the drill bit, moving downwards 3 times and then without changing the drill bit position move 3 times to the side: "forward" position - to the left, "reverse" position - to the right, then place the drill bit perpendicular to the central axis of the nail and make 3 downward moves from the left side and 3 upward moves from the right one.

Keep making these 9 moves until the lateral fold becomes soft then you can move on to the next one.👍

* process all the 10 fingers on "forward" from the left sides and only then switch to "reverse" to process the right ones.
